Sam Tillen was pleased with the first half performance of his young squad despite a 3-2 loss to Doncaster Rovers.
Gael Mande opened the scoring for the young Imps before Trialist D gave City a two-goal advantage at the break however, in the second half, Doncaster Rovers scored two goals in quick succession on the hour mark before grabbing a winner late on.
He said: “It’s a really young group, I thought we had a real threat about us, and we looked dangerous in behind.
"When the game became 2-2, we rallied and became the better side again and was hit by somewhat of a sucker punch when their third goal went in.”
Josh Kennealey leads the team in goals so far this season and made a substitute appearance after an extended period on the sideline.
Tillen added: “It’s great to have Josh back, he’s been a real threat for us the season and he’s been our most potent attacker throughout the campaign.
"He was a big miss for us when he was injured but we managed to get him back for 30 minutes and hopefully he can now build on that in the coming weeks.”
