City make eight changes to the side that started Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie against Bournemouth for this afternoon’s return to Sky Bet Championship action.

Daniel Oyegoke retains his place after making his debut against the Premier League side, making his first Championship start since joining the Imps.

Head coach Chris Cohen said: "We’ve picked the team that we feel is right for the game in front of us. Daniel had a good performance at right-sided centre-half on Tuesday.

“We like the thought of him at wing-back and we’re excited for him to make his Championship debut.”

There are three changes from last Saturday’s draw with Southampton, with Tom Bayliss and Reeco Hackett also coming into the league XI. Deji Elerewe returns to the XI after being named the Bainland August Player of the Month.

Cohen added: “Over the next eight days we’re going to need everyone. We’re going to put fresh teams on the football pitch to go and win games of football. You can see that by the amount of changes we’ve made, and you’ll see by the amount of changes I’m sure we’ll make on Tuesday as well.

“We’ve got a squad that we’re really content with and really happy with. We’ve just got to make sure we put the right pieces together to get the performances needed to get points.

“We’re really blessed with a wonderful squad. It’s about getting the right balance of freshness and rhythm, and hopefully we’ll be able to do that.”

City XI: George Wickens, Adam Reach, Andrei Coubis, Reeco Hackett, Tom Bayliss, Conor McGrandles, Sonny Bradley (C), Rob Street, Ben House, Deji Elerewe, Daniel Oyegoke.

Subs: Gauci, Towler, Ladefoged, Jefferies, Olaofe, Varfolomeev, Konak, Ogbene, Draper.
