City forward Rob Street could not hide his delight after he marked his 50th appearance for the Imps with a goal during their resounding 4-0 victory over Northampton Town at the LNER Stadium on Tuesday night.

Street added City’s fourth goal of the contest after Ryan Oné, Jack Moylan and Ivan Varfolomeev had made the Imps' dominance count by finding the scoresheet.

Street said: “I’m really happy here and I’m delighted to mark my 50th appearance for this club with a goal.

“I won’t take it for granted what it means to play for this club and I want to continue finding the net and helping the team.

“I think for us is it is important to not get too carried away. We’re taking it one game at a time and need to keep putting the points on the board.”

The win over the Cobblers ensured City made it 15 league games unbeaten and Street was quick to praise the professionalism of the team.

He added: “The professionalism was top drawer. Everyone played their part including those who started and came on as subs, it was a very good night for us.

“We have a quality squad here and we have great staff in the building too, we’re pleased with how it is going right now and we need to keep it up.

“It was nice to get back on the scoresheet and I think for us to score four goals in front of our own fans is obviously great.

“Football is not simple, we all know that. We had to be professional and show them the respect they deserved, we’re delighted with the final scoreline but at the end of the day it is another three points and we need to build on it.”
