Michael Skubala was pleased with his side’s workout as City played out a goalless draw at Oldham Athletic.
Skubala made wholesale changes to the team after 60 minutes and was satisfied with the way that both groups applied themselves to the friendly.
He said: “I’m really happy with what we got out of the game. I was pleased with the intensity of the match as well the way we counter-pressed and were aggressive in the final 30 minutes.
“The only thing for me was to be more ruthless in the final third and score a goal, but that will come with sharpness and more games.”
Skubala fielded a slightly younger team in the first half and was happy with how they stood up to the test of a senior Oldham side.
He added: “I was pleased with the group who played the first 60 minutes, especially as some of them are really young and they stood up to the opposition.
“I think it’s important we see the younger lads and to give them a chance. I thought it was the perfect game to see them and I was pleased with how they applied themselves. Some of them have got a way to go in terms of the style, but they will grow and will get there.”
