Michael Skubala is aiming to progress to the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night at Burton Albion.
Following a 3-1 victory away from home at Harrogate Town, City head to the Pirelli Stadium with a chance to secure a place in the next round.
While Skubala hinted at potential changes to the side, he made it clear that the focus remains firmly on winning and progressing in the competition.
He said: “We’re a few weeks down the line now and some players have put in some really high numbers in the league games so you’ll see a few changes coming but that’s an opportunity for some lads to show what they can do but more than anything we want to get through.
“We need a squad, a whole group of players to get through these games with rotations and we’ll definitely put a team out that can go and win the game because we want to progress.”
City have recorded four wins in six games to begin the 2025/26 campaign - a start that Skubala wants to build on.
He said: “You always want to start well, it’s been a solid start to the season. I also think there’s loads to improve, we’ve got solid foundations and the lads are working hard for each other, but we need to keep improving.
“It’s a good start but we want to keep moving in the right direction, build on what we’re doing and try to keep building on performances.”
Skubala confirmed Jack Moylan will miss three months of action following ankle surgery after an injury he picked up at Harrogate Town - the injury is not to the same ankle that saw the Irishman miss a period of the 2024/25 season.
He added: “He’s going to be out of action for three months but he’s already on the mend and back in the building on crutches.”
