Tom Shaw was pleased with the competitive nature of City’s performance as they continued pre-season with a 4-0 win at Harrogate Town.
City struck twice either side of the break to secure their second win of the week, with goals coming from Dylan Duffy, Sean Roughan, Freddie Draper and Rob Street.
Shaw said: “We started brilliantly, scoring two good goals with two good finishes. What was really pleasing was 45 minutes onwards.
“The early part of the second half I thought we were very good, stretching the backline of Harrogate and we were unplayable for a period.”
Alongside an impressive attacking performance City kept their third clean sheet of pre-season which Shaw thinks is another step in the right direction as preparations continue for the new campaign.
He continued: “We were really competitive, I thought Paudie O’Connor drove the team on really well as the middle centre-half, with good noise, good energy and enthusiasm - he got people to the top of their game.
“We’re good at the duels and were aggressive in the air. On the ground we’re good in that situation right through the pitch so we didn’t let Harrogate get near our goal, which was really pleasing and hopefully another step in the right direction.”
