Tom Shaw says City's new signings have settled into life at the club well as the Imps prepare to face Blackpool in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

City travel to Bloomfield Road on Tuesday evening looking to build on their 2-1 victory over Derby County at Pride Park, which secured their place in the second round of the competition.

The tie could also provide an opportunity for some of the club's summer arrivals to make their mark, with Shaw revealing the new faces have impressed since joining the group.

Shaw said: “All of the new signings have been very positive on the training ground.

“We’re really excited to see some of them play at Blackpool, but we’ll be a little bit patient with some stuff as well.

“We’ve had to work with them to get some minutes in games and have a good go at the EPC to get them up to speed.

“We’re excited to see them in the coming weeks and months.”

With a busy start to the campaign continuing, Tuesday night's trip to the Lancashire coast offers another opportunity for Chris Cohen and Shaw to give members of their squad valuable minutes.

However, while the fixture could see opportunities handed to some of City's newer additions, Shaw stressed that the focus remains firmly on progressing in the competition.

He added: “We’re excited to see some of these new faces.

“There’ll definitely be some from the start, some as the game draws on, and I think we’re just going to need to get the balance absolutely right.

“All the new faces have been training really, really well. We want to get some of them out there and we want to see them play, but the priority tomorrow night is to beat Blackpool and progress in the Carabao Cup.”
