Kian Sagoo believes there are signs that the City U18 are starting to understand their roles and develop some chemistry.
The young Imps fell short to Chesterfield at the Gen2 Energy Elite Performance Centre on Tuesday morning through a late goal but Sagoo believes as the team continues to play together.
He said: “It’s a new team that is starting to come together but we haven't had much time together on the training pitch as a team but there is a bond which you can start to see.
“It was a shame to concede so late so as a team we need to regroup and continue to gel to help us in future games.”
City showed resilience to go into the break behind and fight for an equaliser. Despite not getting all three points in the end, Sagoo was pleased at how the team showed fight in the second half.
He added: “At half-time we came together and found the positives and weaknesses that we had in the first half, and I thought we came out strong in the second half.
“A big credit to the subs who came on as well and made an impact. I thought together we fought back in the second half for the first and second balls and made a number of chances.”
Sagoo has become a regular starter for Sam Tillen's side lately earning plenty of starts and even the captain's armband on certain occasions, the young midfielder is noticing the role this has had on his development.
He said: “I think my development is going well.
"I’m now one of the older players in the team so I have to have a communication role in the group and I think this has helped me become a leader which hopefully I can keep developing and take into next year as well."
