Lewy Oliver was pleased to benefit from the experience of playing against a senior side on Wednesday night against Gainsborough Trinity.
The young defender got more than 70 minutes in the tank against a strong Trinity side as the U18s continued pre-season preparations with a 4-2 defeat ahead of their Youth Alliance North campaign start date in early August.
Oliver said: “There’s learning points from the game, but I don’t think the scoreline depicted how the game went either.
“It’s good to be getting plenty of minutes, you’re feeling it a bit and everyone’s feeling quite heavy, but you’ve got to put the hard work in and it feels good to be back.”
Oliver is looking forward to the season ahead as he prepares himself for his first season as a scholar for the Imps following a successful 2024/25 which saw him make 24 appearances in all competitions.
He added: “I’m buzzing, it’s been a long time coming. I’m very happy to continue with the club and can’t wait for the next two years."
