Young defender Kenzie Oliver was proud of the fight his side showed as they picked up a battling 1-0 win on the road against Rotherham United.
Oliver played the full 90 minutes and looked composed in defence, nullifying the opposition attackers as the young Imps kept a clean sheet.
He said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to get the win. It's my first win playing for the U18s so it’s a good feeling. We looked like a proper team. We were very strong in possession, and the strikers did a lot of running for us out of possession.
“We worked very hard and worked as a team, so it is rewarding to top that off with a clean sheet.”
There's been a clear age disparity in City's U18 side over the past few months, with Oliver stepping up in defence and starting all of the last seven games. He's been pleased to get the opportunity and believes it's helping his development.
He added: “It’s been good to get a lot of minutes for the U18s lately. I’ve started the last few games and played well, I think it’s been very beneficial for my development and I'm hoping the team can end the season strong.”
