Gbolahan Okewoye and Charlie Parks have signed professional deals with City, while the club continues to discuss terms with Zane Okoro.
Okewoye has agreed an initial one-year deal with a club option following a successful two-year scholarship, where the midfielder played a pivotal role in the record-equalling FA Youth Cup run before winning promotion with Lincoln United while on loan.
Centre-back Parks has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Imps, which also includes a two-year club option, extending his stay at the club having initially joined as an U15.
Nicolae-Mario Vasiloiu, Carter Ford, Kelly Fombad, Resharne McLean, Denny Oliver and Dakara Wifa will leave City following their two-year scholarships. Isaac Allan also leaves after the expiry of his third-year scholarship.
City's director of football Jez George said: “These are always difficult decisions but they have been made with the input and knowledge of staff across the first team and Academy due to the structures in place to review the progress of young players at the club and the way we provide the scholars with regular opportunities to train with the pros at the Elite Performance Centre.
“All the boys have conducted themselves and represented the club impeccably, with particular memories for them all of their fantastic run in the FA Youth Cup. They leave us with academic qualifications and opportunities to trial at other clubs so they can continue their football journey elsewhere We will support them in that and they will always be part of the Lincoln City family. We are absolutely delighted that one of those players, Denny Oliver, has already secured a contract with a Category 2 club, which will give him more time to develop within an U21 environment.
“Charlie, Gbolahan and Zane thoroughly deserve their offers and we are delighted that Charlie and Gbolahan have signed professional contracts and can look forward to pre-season. We hope that Zane will follow and we congratulate him on two first team appearances in League One this season while still a scholar, which is a fantastic achievement.”
“The club should also be rightfully proud that among all Category 3 clubs within the EFL, our academy graduates have played the most first team minutes this season (more than 7,000). Sean Roughan was among the first cohort of scholars in 2019 through our partnership at the time with Lincoln Minster School and this season played in every minute of every league game - an amazing achievement which epitomises his and the Academy’s progress over the past six years.”
