Justin Obikwu has been recalled by parent club Coventry City.

The 21-year-old made 21 appearances for the Imps in all competitions after joining on loan, scoring three goals including one on his home debut against Luton Town.

Sporting director Jez George said: “Coventry had indicated to us earlier in the window that they were happy for Justin to stay with us for the remainder of the season, but their circumstances have changed in the last 48 hours and we were informed of their desire to recall Justin on Thursday afternoon.

“The January transfer window always throws curveballs and whilst this was completely unexpected, it is part of football.  We are now working hard to identify all available and affordable options in the market that fit our game model to replace Justin, as well as the ongoing process of trying to strengthen the squad as Michael alluded to this week. As in August, it is important that we make the right decisions for the next four months and not just the next four games.”

Everyone at City thanks Justin for his contribution during his time with the Imps.
