City attacker Jack Moylan believes the Imps could have scored more goals in their 3-1 win over Barnsley on Tuesday night.

A Reeco Hackett brace and a Tom Bayliss effort helped City to their fourth league win in a row at home and Moylan was left feeling positive after the team picked up maximum points again.

He said: “On another night we could have had four or five, it was a really good performance from us.

“I’m back playing in my favourite position. I want to be in there making things happen, so it felt really good to be back out there.

“Last Saturday against Port Vale the performance wasn’t at the level we know we can reach, but against Barnsley we were very good.

“Ultimately, though, the most important thing is getting the three points and we managed to do that in both games, that goes a long way.”

Moylan was keen to offer his support to striker James Collins, who will miss the rest of the season after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in last Tuesday's Vertu Trophy match against Huddersfield Town.

After facing a spell on the sidelines himself this season, Moylan knows firsthand the level of care that the forward will be getting, both in the treatment room and from his teammates.

He added: “I’ve always admired Collo from when he played internationally for the Republic of Ireland.

“We know it will be a tough moment in his career that he’s going into, but I know from firsthand experience that he has an unbelievable dressing room behind him.

“There’s a group of lads in there as well as top physios who will do absolutely everything for him and trust me, he has a strong head on him. He’ll be back.”
