JJ McKiernan has returned to Sky Bet League One side Burton Albion on a season-long loan.
The midfielder joined the Imps in July 2024, making 17 appearances, including six starts, before spending the second half of the season on loan at the Pirelli Stadium.
The 23-year-old played regular football, making 19 league starts for the Brewers as they successfully avoided relegation.
Director of football Jez George said: “JJ did well on loan at Burton in the second half of last season, starting every game that he was available for, and wants to be a first-choice player for this season.
“We cannot guarantee him that due to the number of players within our squad in his position, so this arrangement has been agreed to facilitate his desire to play every week and ensure that we add value to our asset who is contracted until June 2028. We wish him well."
