Key information
Wrexham have made an extremely positive start to the current campaign, after just nine fixtures they sit on 22 points in the Youth Alliance North West Division leaving them in second place behind only Stockport County. Their most recent result was their only defeat of the season and that came when making the trip to the aforementioned Stockport County who handed them a 3-0 defeat. Prior to their sole defeat they were victorious in a nine-goal thriller as they hosted Burton Albion and sent them home in the end of a 6-3 loss.
City have had a really successful cup run to this point advancing past both York City and Walsall at home by a combined 12 goals. The first round saw the young Imps breeze past York by a scoreline of 10-1 at the Gen2 Energy Elite Performance Centre whilst the second round was played at Riseholme College with City emerging as 5-2 victors over Midlands outfit, Walsall.
As previously mentioned, these two sides have already met in the 2026/27 campaign, this was also an away fixture for City and a 3-1 loss in the fixture was their first loss in a competitive match this season. Leo Fifield was the young Imps' sole scorer of the day as part of his 27 goals so far this campaign in 14 competitive starts. However, when City welcomed the Red Dragons last season, it was the home side who emerged as 4-2 victors.
Isaac Rice’s thoughts
Rice said: “We need to focus on the stuff we have been doing well and also take the learnings we need to take from the recent results. We need to meet standards we strive for against Wrexham as they are a top team.”
