City kick February off on the road in Sky Bet League One when they travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon (3pm KO).

Read what head coach Michael Skubala and winger Erik Ring said ahead of the game, as well as catch up on all the important match information in this preview.

Michael Skubala:

"We performed well on Tuesday, creating chances and chasing the game at 2-0 which was pleasing.

"Wigan are a really good side. They are really well coached, they have a good following and we are going to have to be on it. They can hurt you on their day and they will hard to play away from home.

"They are a club who have been up there in the higher leagues. I think it will be a really good game. We are hoping we can perform again like we have been doing over the last few games, and turn those box entries and chances into goals."

Erik Ring:

"I had some good momentum before getting ill. I was ill around Christmas and was laying in bed for two weeks. I had to take a few steps back. Everyone feels that they should be playing, but hopefully I can get my chance soon. I'm feeling good when I am on the pitch in training.

"Over the last few games I feel that we have started to play more with the ball on the ground which feels good. We are trying to win games.

"Even though we lost on Tuesday I felt that we were the better team. They scored two goals that we don't normally concede. At times though we played really well during periods and took the game from Saturday into Tuesday. There is a positive feeling even though we lost, because it is something to build on."

A look at the opposition:

Ahead of kick-off, Wigan find themselves in 16th in the Sky Bet League One table, with Shaun Maloney's side winning three of their last five fixtures in all competitions.

Last time out, they lost 1-0 at Peterborough United. In the return fixture, the two sides played out a goalless draw at the LNER Stadium in September.

The last time that City beat the Latics was in October 2021, with goals from Dan Nlundulu and TJ Eyoma enough for a 2-1 win at the Brick Community Stadium.
