City will be looking to end a historic campaign in style, as they look to extend their unbeaten run to 29 games when they visit Port Vale on Saturday 2 May (3pm KO).

Read the thoughts of both Michael Skubala and Jack Moylan ahead of the trip to Vale Park.

Michael Skubala:

"We want to finish off on a high, so we will see a competitive team out there for sure. The lads came back on Thursday and trained really well, and that just shows the mentality that we have in the group.

"It has been a great atmosphere for the last few days and now our focus is ending the season with another good result and performance."

Jack Moylan:

"We'd love to finish the season unbeaten, we've hit every target that we've set this season and this is another one for us to go for, so we'll be doing everything we can to get a positive result.

"This has been the best year of my life so far, I've absolutely loved it. You could sense it around the group that the belief was there, when you've got a great group of players and staff and a city that backs the football team, you know you can go and achieve something special and we've done that."

Opposition information:

Despite already being relegated, since the start of Jon Brady’s tenure, there has been a definite up-turn in form seeing them lose just twice in their last seven games, Vale also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1954, defeating Premier League side Sunderland on the way.

Port Vale head into the game off the back of a victory as they made the trip to Edgeley Park to face play-off hopefuls, Stockport County. Martin Sherif and Jordan Gabriel were on the scoresheet for the Valiants, sending them into a 2-0 lead at the break, a deficit that appeared too much for the Hatters to overcome as Odin Bailey could only muster up a consolation goal late on.

The 1-0 victory for City over the Valiants in November was the start of the Imps' 28 games unbeaten run, Reeco Hackett found the winner on the day, a goal which he hailed as the start of his goalscoring form when interviewed after receiving the joint golden boot trophy at the recent End of Season Awards ceremony.
