The young Imps head to the Weston Homes Stadium to take on Peterborough United in the FA Youth Cup on Sunday 26 October (7pm KO).

City arrive into this fixture off the back of a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion in the PDL Cup on Wednesday night where they secured a place in the later stages of the PDL Shield.

Dan Vanderpuye was the one who came up with the goods late on for City to secure a point after he got on the end of perfectly placed cross from Harrison Foulston in the dying embers of the contest.

Sam Tillen:

“They’re a good side, they’re technically very efficient and they’ve got some very good players, so we know it’ll be a tough test because they’re an academy of a higher category than what we are.

“We just have to make sure we do our due diligence, and we work as hard as we possibly can to make sure that we’re prepared and come what may on the night we know we’ve done everything we possibly can to get into the right frame of mind.”

Charlie Carlisle:

“Me and all the lads are really excited for it, it’ll be a tough game, but I think they’re the best games in the FA Youth Cup, the late nights under the lights so we’re all really up for it.

“It’s always a really nice feeling to be playing in a big stadium with a really nice pitch, I think that will really suit us based on the way we want to play so that only motivates the lads even more.”

Opposition information:

Peterborough U18s are managed by Jimmy Unwin who joined Posh two years ago following a lengthy spell with Cambridge United’s youth setup where he guided the U’s to a very successful period.

Posh come into this FAYC fixture off the back of a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield but their two games prior to that resulted in 4-1 home victories over both Norwich and Coventry respectively.

The last time these two teams met in this competition came 15 years ago when the young Imps played host in the 2010 FA Youth Cup, but it was the visitors Peterborough who emerged victorious on that day winning 4-2.
