The young Imps will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in their Youth Alliance North campaign when they host Morecambe on Saturday 27 September (11am KO).

City approach this fixture off the back of an action-packed 4-2 win over familiar opposition, Wrexham, as they extended their 2025/26 points tally to nine.

Josh Kennealey found the back of the Wrexham net three times as he secured himself a well-deserved hat-trick whilst Will Cowin also bagged for the Imps with a well taken solo effort.

Sam Tillen's thoughts:

“First of all, it’s great that Morecambe are back playing, that’s a real positive and I’m glad we get to host them on Saturday.”

“We’ll go through the details with the lads throughout the week and we will make sure that we’re fully prepared for another tough test, as are all the tests in this league. Every team throws up a different challenge and Morecambe are no exception so it’s all about being ready for them when they arrive.”

Josh Kennealey:

“I’d say we are more confident now going into next week we’ve picked up these three points and a good team performance. Scoring four goals, it doesn’t really get much better than and hopefully we can take this momentum forward with us throughout the rest of the season.”

Opposition information:

Morecambe have had a turbulent summer off the pitch as their academy setup was left no choice but to close operations in August due to their financial issues as liquidation loomed for the club. New owners came in and rescued the team and academy operations resumed with new U18 head coach Ollie Ras taking on the challenge.

The Shrimps’ season was late to commence due to the behind-the-scenes complications, so they travel to the Elite Performance Centre with just two games under their belt in the Youth Alliance North. Despite that, both of those have ended in victory for Morecambe with wins over both Rotherham United and Notts County in recent weeks.

The last meeting between these two teams came just over a year ago when the Imps emerged 2-1 victors on the road with a goal from Zane Okoro and then a dramatic late winner from Gbolohan Okewoye sealed the three points for City.
