The Imps travel to St. Andrew’s @Knighthead Park to take on league leaders Birmingham City on Saturday (3pm kick off).

Read the pre-match thoughts of head coach Michael Skubala and forward James Collins, as well as catch up on all the important match information in this preview.

Michael Skubala:

“We want to go and take the game to them in a controlled way, it is a tough place to go but an exciting one too, we want to go there and embrace the challenge ahead of us.

“In the home game against Birmingham earlier in the season we started well. We were on the front foot and aggressive, and that’s how we want to approach it on Saturday.

“We know how good they are, but we’ll try and get after them in the right moments. You can hurt them, teams have shown that and that’s what we’re going to try and do.”

James Collins:

“The last 20 minutes against Barnsley on Saturday were really good and it was pleasing to see us take that into the Crawley game on Tuesday.  If we continue to do that and play as well as we all know we can, we’ll give ourselves an excellent chance against anyone.

“Matches like this are what we’re all in football for, they are at the top of the league for a reason and are a good side, but we’ll go there without fear looking to win the game.”

A look at the opposition:

Blues have wasted no time in their efforts to ensure their stay in Sky Bet League One is a short one following a shock relegation last term.

Chris Davies’ side have a healthy nine-point-cushion at the top of the third tier standings, with 76 points from 33 games in 2024/25. A rare defeat in midweek at the hands of Bolton Wanderers was just their third in the league this season, ending an unbeaten run that stretched to 19 games.

The table-toppers will be looking to protect League One’s last remaining unbeaten home record when the Imps visit this Saturday, Blues have so far accumulated an impressive 45 points from 51 available in the league.
