City make the short trip to South Yorkshire on Saturday as Michael Skubala's side take on Barnsley.

Read what Skubala and Tendayi Darikwa had to say ahead of the fixture, as well as catch up on all the important match information in this preview.

Michael Skubala:

"Coaches always want perfection and I believe there have been times where we’ve looked very good. I look at our performances against Reading, Stockport and Peterborough as a benchmark of how good we can be and we want to get to that level consistently.

"I want to see more intent and aggression - that's down to us show it. We need to drive that and be brave on the ball, that is easier said than done but I believe that when we are at our best that is what we look like.

"We want to take the game to Barnsley, we've got to do that with a structure and a plan of how we want to play and we believe that, if we do this, we'll give ourselves a great chance of achieving a positive result.”

Tendayi Darikwa:

"Physically, I feel in a very good place and believe I'm proving that on the pitch. The gaffer expects a lot from his wing-backs and it is a very demanding position, but I live a good lifestyle, train well and prepare for games in the right way.

"I believe all of this transfers onto the pitch and because I’ve practiced all of these good habits, my output has been fairly consistent throughout my career.

"We're in control of our performances and the responsibility is with us first and foremost to take ownership once we cross that white line. It's going to be a tough game against Barnsley who are a good team and a big club, but we'll go there looking to start a good run."

A look at the opposition:

Barnsley have reached the play-off semi-finals in the past two seasons since their relegation from the Championship in the 2021/22 campaign.

The Tykes currently find themselves in 10th position in Sky Bet League One, four points off the play-off places.

When the two sides met earlier in the season, Barnsley took all three points from the LNER Stadium in a 2-1 win. In the fixture the same fixture last season, City came away with a memorable 5-1 win at Oakwell including a Jack Moylan brace.
