Winger Gael Mande was pleased with the fight shown by the young Imps in the first half against Doncaster Rovers at the Gen2 Energy Elite Performance Centre.
Mande scored the opener against Rovers on Saturday but Sam Tillen's side were unable to hold on, losing 3-2.
He said: “In the first half we competed but in the second half we dropped off and let in silly goals, and it shows that game management is what we need to work on.
“Our first half display was really good because we competed strong for the second balls and shown a lot of fight as well as topping it off with two good goals.”
Mande was happy to contribute with a goal for his side but was disappointed that they couldn’t hold onto the lead.
He added: “I’m happy to get back on the score sheet it’s been a long time. But all I care about is winning. If I score and we lose it no longer feels so great.”
City have a trip to Grimsby in their next Youth Alliance North encounter and Mande believes that the team needs to work hard in training if they want to get back to winning ways.
He added: “We need to work hard in training as Grimsby are a very good side. What we need to work on most is game management and showing fight to win the second balls if we want to win next week.”
