Josh Kennealey is hoping to push on after his brace and impressive performance against Port Vale.
City's U18 side kicked off their Youth Alliance North campaign at the Elite Performance Centre against Port Vale with a convincing 3-0 win on Saturday.
Winger Kennealey was highly influential in the victory, scoring two goals either side of a Dan Vanderpuye spot-kick. After having a strong pre season, he was glad to start the campaign itself with such an impact.
He said: “I’m happy with the result and my performance. Pre-season went well and I scored a couple so I’m glad to take that into the season and hopefully there’s more to come.”
Kennealey was pleased to start the season off with a win, he is aiming to use the result as momentum with the Imps’ next game on Tuesday against Salford City.
He added: “I think the first game of the season is always one of the most important ones because it sets the tone for the rest of the season so a strong 3-0 win will set us up strong for the rest of the campaign.”
