Josh Kennealey was happy to be back on the scoresheet after returning to the starting lineup for the first time since December.
Kennealey netted for City against high-flying Grimsby Town but it was enough for City to take something from the game, with the Mariners running out 3-1 winners.
He said: “I think at times we played really well we moved the ball around and pressed very well but at other times we seemed to fall asleep and the three goals we conceded were all very avoidable.”
The forward was very pleased to make his long awaited return and especially to get back on the scoresheet.
He added: “As soon as the referee gave the penalty, I knew I was going to take it and I felt very confident as I already knew where I was going and it’s great to make my return by getting on the scoresheet.
“It feels amazing to be back, being injured is really frustrating when you’re watching your team train and watching them play and you’re not out there it’s really difficult so I’m very glad to be back with the lads and playing again.”
The young Imps face Chesterfield on Tuesday and Kennealey talked about the importance of being more clinical to help the team find three points.
He said: “I think if we want to get back to winning ways, we’ve got to take our chances better attacking as we can create very good chances for ourselves.”
