Midfield maestro Mason Jubb was delighted with his side’s performance as the youngster scored another fantastic goal to help the Imps’ U18 side to a 2-1 win over Bradford City.

Jubb battled and controlled the midfield area for the entire game, winning duels defensively as well as kickstarting attacks before finding the net himself in the second half.

He said: “We defended well in those defensive areas. I thought we used the ball well in difficult conditions in this wind so it was a good performance overall.”

The 14-year-old has been nominated for Lincoln City’s All in Construction Goal of the Month for March already and it’s safe to say that this one wasn’t far off the same level as the nominated strike.

Talking through his goal, he said: “I won the ball back and saw a chance to drive through the middle. The ball got played to me and I saw that the keeper was a bit to the right, so I hit it to the far corner.”

Jubb has been playing for both the U18s and U16s this season and he has been playing regular minutes for the former lately. He’s been enjoying his football for both teams and believes that both are helping massively as he develops.

He said: “I think I’m developing well and playing for the U18s is helping me with my performances for the U16s as well, making me stronger so I can play more and more here as well.”

With a quick turnaround for the game against Carlisle United, Jubb hopes that they can make it three wins in a row after this game made it successive wins for the first time this season.

He added: “Hopefully we can play again like this so that we can get the win, get positive results, keep going and get another three points.”
