The Welshman was involved in all three of City’s first half goals, assisting the first two before getting himself on the scoresheet.

He said: “It was obviously tough going 1-0 down but the boys showed a lot of fight and team spirit - it was a good result in the end.

“It was a great performance from everyone, I got myself into good areas made a couple of things happen and the boys finished it off.”

Jefferies took time to heap praise on forward Jovon Makama after the pair linked up for the both the second and third goals.

He continued: “I thought Jovon was excellent all night, he gave their left-back a tough time with his pace and power.

“I saw him peeling off the shoulder in a bit of space and just put the ball into him and he finished it off nicely.”
