Adam Jackson is excited by the progress City are making and is determined to play his part after committing his future to the club.
The central defender is heading into his sixth season with the Imps, the longest spell he's spent at one club in his career. With over 150 appearances under his belt, he’s still motivated to achieve even more at the LNER Stadium.
Jackson said: “I’m really happy, it’s been talked about in the last few weeks and I was really keen to get it done, because I’m excited about what’s going on at the club and I’m keen to keep being a part of it.
“It’s good to still be here and see the development that the club has made, hopefully the next step is coming."
The 31-year-old is pleased to commit his future so early in the campaign, allowing him to focus on the season ahead as City look to build on a positive start.
Michael Skubala's side ran out 2-0 winners on the opening day, with Jackson completing the full 90 minutes and keeping a clean sheet - he's now looking to build momentum ahead of Saturday's trip to AFC Wimbledon.
He continued: “Signing the contract now just focuses the mind on the season, it’s good to get it sorted and the full focus is on the season ahead.
“Momentum is massive in this league especially with how relentless the games are so I think if we follow up the Reading result with a good performance on Saturday then it’s a good start for us."
