Donald Inyama was pleased with the his side's performance despite their Youth Alliance Cup exit against Salford City.

The young midfielder was among the goals against Salford after a solid all-round performance in the season opener and his debut against Port Vale.

He said: “I think we played well, worked hard and we showed we had the ability to outwork our opponents but we just needed a bit of consistency to see it out.

“It was great to get on the scoresheet, I always enjoy scoring, but we have to hold out in a situation like this and not get too overconfident."

Inyama also spoke about his short and long-term ambitions for the season as a whole and the upcoming league fixture against Stockport County.

He added: “This weekend’s game is going to be good; we are going to put in the work throughout the week in terms of training and also watch the game back and reflect on what happened.

“My personal ambitions are just to make sure that we are picking up consistent wins throughout the league campaign, clean sheets and also an FA Youth Cup run would be nice as well.”
