Donald Inyama was introduced on the hour mark and was immediately hurtled into the action as Freddie Wilson’s freekick found its way to him, he struck it with power and found the back of the Carlisle United net to seal the victory for the young Imps.
The tenacious midfielder enjoyed a successful start to the season but was dealt an injury blow causing him to endure an extended period on the sidelines. He returned to the fray on Tuesday and spoke about his excitement to be back on the pitch.
Inyama said: “It feels great to be back and around the lads in a matchday setting, it’s so nice as a player to be involved in all the preparations.
“The atmosphere of being back amongst everyone is amazing, I really enjoy being around them and I love fighting for the team and most importantly coming away with three points.”
However, it wasn’t plain sailing, City found themselves two goals up at the break but found that immediately undone within a minute of the second half commencing.
Inyama spoke about how proud he was of his teammates for their resilience and continued intensity as they hit back with an immediate response through Mason Jubb to restore their two goal advantage.
He said: “I think we played really well and showed a lot of character to go into the second half and concede early but then pulling it right back just showed how we can push through as a team and as a unit.”
