Lincoln City Innovation Lab has expanded its offering with the introduction of a dedicated software development capability through a new partnership with Lincoln-based Stonefield Software Solutions.

The collaboration means businesses and entrepreneurs working with the Innovation Lab can now access end-to-end support - from initial idea and design through to full software and app development - all within a trusted and locally connected ecosystem.

Stonefield Software Solutions, founded by Darren Newton, will act as the Innovation Lab’s software development partner, helping turn innovative ideas into fully realised digital products. The partnership operates as a joint venture model, aligning both organisations through shared project success and long-term growth.

The two organisations are already working together on live projects, including with existing Innovation Lab partner Ops-App, demonstrating the immediate impact of the collaboration.

Neil Everatt, entrepreneur in residence at the Lincoln City Innovation Lab, said: “Many businesses have strong ideas but lack the technical capability to bring them to life. This partnership changes that. By combining our innovation support with Stonefield’s development expertise, we can now support every stage of the journey - from concept through to launch and beyond.

“Having worked with Darren previously, I know the quality and commercial focus he brings. This is about delivering real outcomes for businesses, not just ideas.”

Darren Newton, founder of Stonefield Software Solutions, added: “This partnership is about making high-quality software development accessible to businesses that might not otherwise know where to start. Through the Innovation Lab, we’re able to work directly with organisations at the earliest stages of their ideas and help shape them into practical and scaleable solutions.”

The move strengthens the Innovation Lab’s position as a complete innovation partner. Alongside its existing collaboration with Grid Design Agency, the Lab can now support branding, design, web and software development - providing a seamless route from idea to execution.

Businesses working with the Innovation Lab also benefit from unique access to Lincoln City Football Club’s network, platforms and commercial opportunities, helping accelerate growth and visibility.
