Sam Tillen praised the mentality of his side after a goalless draw against Notts County.
The young Imps dominated the majority of the game but had to settle for a point against the Magpies, with Tillen pleased that his side showed determination to keep pushing for the win to the very end.
Tillen said: “It was a frustrating result as we deserved to win the game. We created a high number of good chances and I thought we were the best team in the game.
“A goal would’ve changed the momentum and shifted the match slightly but we kept going, kept pushing for a victory. It was our mentality to try and win the game rather than be happy with a draw but we just needed that little bit of quality in the final third to get the goal we needed.”
City U18 are now four unbeaten in all competitions, and Tillen is hoping his side can continue their good form against Chesterfield in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday.
He added: “There were lots of positives with a clean sheet and a solid defensive display. We’re really hoping the volume of chances we create will lead to us scoring more goals in the future.
“We have another test next week, we have to keep going and working through our processes. We need to maintain our standards going week to week, which we are doing at the moment."
