City have partnered with Swiss sustainability firm Quambio to launch a joint venture aimed at driving the club’s sustainability and innovation strategy. The initiative, Quambio Sports, is part of City’s ambitious plan to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and actively engage and incentivise supporters and employees on this journey.
Quambio, based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, works with leading organisations such as the Tour de Suisse pro cycling race to achieve sustainability goals. The new collaboration with Lincoln City introduces fan-focused sustainability challenges, encouraging and supporting fans to reduce their carbon footprint.
Caroline Carlin, formerly operations and sustainability manager at Southampton FC and currently head of clients and sustainability at specialist sports sustainability consultants Enovation Consulting, will chair Quambio Sports. She will be joined on the board by Quambio CEO Manuel Lonfat, a former special advisor to the United Nations on climate change and financial markets, and Damian Froggatt, Lincoln City’s director of operations.
She said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Lincoln City and their supporters to make a real difference on their journey to sustainability, with the Quambio technology just the start of what’s possible.
“Sports fans want to support their teams with minimal environmental impact, and we aim to provide the tools to do just that.”
Lonfat said: “We’re passionate about being a change agent, and thrilled to work with Lincoln City and other sports clubs to help both the clubs and their fans minimise their environmental impact.”
Jason Futers, City’s chief growth and innovation officer, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Quambio and to welcome Caroline. We have ambitious sustainability and innovation targets, and Quambio is the perfect partner. With Caroline, Manuel, and Damian on board, we’ve created a world-class team to achieve our ambitious plans.”
