First-team players from Lincoln City and Lincoln Women helped spread some Christmas cheer by visiting patients at Lincoln County Hospital.

The players donated money, which was matched by the club and partners Elite Pro Sports to provide Imps-related gifts, which they distributed in the Rainforest, Safari and Clayton wards.

Players took the time to speak to patients, family members and staff at the hospital to help put smiles on faces during a difficult time.

City captain Tendayi Darikwa said: “It’s a tough time going into Christmas so it’s always a special time to come and put smiles on faces.

“We know how valued we are in the community and it’s a massive part of our football club. The most important thing is to keep that connection strong with people inside our community.”

Lincoln Women player Maddi Green said: “It makes a big impact, the small things in life matter to a lot of people here so it was really nice to come down and see the people here.”

Ben Petts, charity manager at United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS, added: “We are pleased that players from the men’s and women’s teams from Lincoln City FC could make their annual trip to Lincoln County Hospital to bring festive cheer to many of our patients, staff and visitors. This was the first visit of many over the festive period and really kicked off Christmas for us.”
