Sam Tillen was pleased with his side’s endeavour after they came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town in their final game of the 2024/25 campaign.
Goals from Harry Kirk and Charlie Carlisle completed a second half comeback at Canalside Training Centre meaning the young Imps ended the campaign with back-to-back victories.
Tillen said: “It was a great way to finish the season, the lads epitomised our attitude and endeavour this season in the second half.
“We were 1-0 down but continued to push and work for each other, creating opportunities and ultimately our will, fitness and spirit came to the fore with two late goals.”
Tillen’s side finished fifth in the Youth Alliance North with a strong end to the season which saw multiple young players gain experience in the U18s.
He said: “To end on a positive note with such a young side in the second half of the season is a fitting end for their contribution.
“The group had gained considerable experience in the last few months against older opponents and it is important we take the positives and the things we have learned and move forward from the start of next season.”
