City forward Ben House hailed a special night after his two goals helped the Imps secure the Sky Bet League One title with a 2-0 win over Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday evening.

The striker’s brace at the Eco-Power Stadium extended his side's unbeaten league run to 27 matches, with City delivering another strong team performance in South Yorkshire.

House said: “It is nice to get two more goals and help the team to a win. It was a great performance, the team were brilliant.

“It’s incredible for us all, everyone has put in a massive shift throughout the season.

"We've all been behind each other, the fans have been amazing and the city has been jumping, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s so special.”

The forward also praised the collective effort which has driven the Imps throughout the campaign and insists they will be looking to finish an unforgettable season strongly.

He said: “It comes from everyone, especially the senior players, who demand standards to be so high in training.

“The fringe players, the lads who may not have had as many minutes as they’d have liked, have played a massive part.

“Without them, you can’t do it. They are professional every single day and they’ve played a huge part in our success. The whole group is amazing, I can’t fault anyone’s contribution.

“We’ve always had a target and the next one is to complete the season unbeaten, we know that won’t be easy but we have a special group.

“The Gaffer has said that plenty of times, it’s not just the players but the staff as well, it has been an amazing season and we still think we can achieve more.”
