A strong performance from City saw them emerge victorious over Walsall in the second round of the Youth Alliance Cup after a thrilling 5-2 game.
Another fantastic display from striker Leo Fifield saw the number nine score all five goals as he takes his tally to now 25 goals and 6 assists in the opening 10 games of the season.
He said: “I think today I really showed my standards, obviously I’ve had a good start to the season, but when it comes to my ruthlessness in front of goal, I can only thank my teammates and coaches for drilling it into me. Since pre-season the boys have been unreal and if they’re not there then I don’t score.”
The young forward is thriving with his confidence at the moment as he continues his hot run of form.
He added: “I’m confident in what I’ve done on and off the pitch throughout my time here. A very big part is my faith and the people I have around me supporting me, so I can only thank other people. There won’t be any complacency, I’ve got to stay ruthless.”
The atmosphere in and around the squad is a positive one as the young Imps are enjoying this rich vein of form. The connection within the group is clearly a strong one and has had a positive impact on the players so far.
Fifield added: “Building my relationship with these lads has been the biggest factor in my game. Some of the connections I’ve made with the lads and the service they all give me; I honestly can’t give them enough praise. The next thing is to stay consistent and we will get more.”
Looking ahead to Shrewsbury next weekend, Fifield said: “We’re going to keep working until Saturday and I back this team to do great things this season so there are no worries there.”
