Leo Fifield praised the relentlessness of his side as they secured a 9-0 victory on the road against Rochdale.
City, for the second time this campaign, emerged victorious by a winning margin of nine goals, adding another three points to their Youth Alliance North tally when making the trip to Lancashire to face Rochdale.
Leo Fifield has had an electric start to the season and added another four goals to his total so far this season, taking him up to 15 goals in his last seven appearances. He spoke on the relentlessness of the team but also the confidence that there is still more to come.
He said: “As a team, I thought we were ruthless and obviously nine goals is a great performance, but I know our standards and we’ll look back on Monday at the footage and see we could’ve made it double digits.
“If we want to be the best team in the league then that is what we’ve got to be doing so, we have to take all the positives from today and keep building on them game by game.”
Being a first-year scholar, Fifield joined City over the summer after a successful trial period at the back end of the 2025/26 campaign, he spoke about the relationships he’s beginning to build with his teammates who are providing him with the service to be able to thrive and score goals in the manner he currently is.
Fifield said: “Without them my performance doesn’t include four goals, they’re always top and they were again today and the connection we have with each other allows performances like this one and the one we had against York.”
It’s a third away trip on the bounce for the young Imps as they make the journey to East Yorkshire to face Hull City in the second group game of the U17 PDL Cup and Fifield bagged himself a brace in the opening game against Mansfield Town and is now looks forward to trying to do the same on Tuesday.
He said: “We’re going to have a small rest before coming together again on Monday to do our analysis, prepare our game and hopefully have a good training session before travelling up to Hull and hopefully we can make it two from two in this competition.”
