Former Imp Dean West is jetting off to Thailand in June to represent England at the Senior World Cup.
West – who made more than 120 appearances for City across two spells – is taking part in the tournament for the second time, having tasted glory with the Three Lions in 2024 when they defeated New Zealand 1-0 in Bangkok to lift the trophy for the seventh time since its inception in 2006.
The competition takes place from Sunday 1 June to Saturday 7 June in Pattaya City, with the likes of Uruguay, USA and Iran hoping for glory alongside England.
West first heard of the tournament through fellow ex-pros and good friends Paul Rickers and Ian Cox and, like last year, he will arrive in Thailand equipped with Lincoln City shirts donated by the club to hand over to local children.
He said: “I’m really excited to be taking part in this tournament once again and hopefully we can go there and retain our title.
“It’s a fantastic competition, with some good teams involved, including two newcomers in the United States and Uruguay.
“I’m really grateful to the support shown by kit manager Terry Bourne and everyone at Lincoln City for supplying me with shirts to donate, with which we’ll be able to promote the club across the world.
“Finally, I’d like to say a special thank you to my sponsor the White Hart Hotel for their incredible support. It promises to be another unforgettable event and I’m really proud to be flying the flag for Lincoln City once again.”
The teams involved are:
Australia
England
Hong Kong
Iran
New Zealand
Taiwan
Thailand
United States of America
Uruguay
Vietnam
