Fletcher Don-Duncan was pleased with the opportunity to start for City U18 in their recent fixture away at Oldham Athletic on Saturday in the Youth Alliance North.

Despite Sam Tillen's side losing 1-0 from a goal in stoppage time, there was a strong defensive display from the young Imps.

Don-Duncan was happy with how hard the defence fought against the Latics and felt his side were unlucky to not come away with any points.

He said: “There were lots of positives from today's game, winning first contacts in the first half.

“In the second half the defence was nice and high, and we showed a lot of character in winning first balls and second balls as well as dealing long balls over the top and crosses. Overall, the team showed a lot of fight.”

Don-Duncan has been given the opportunity to play with U18s recently with a full 90 minutes under his belt on Saturday, which he believes will be important for his development.

He added: “It means a lot to me really. It’s a big step in my development and I feel I’ve handled it very well.

“It’s a step that has helped me learn as a player, and obviously I’m proud to be given the opportunity to start for the U18s.”
