Chris Cohen is looking forward to getting City's pre-season campaign underway when the Imps travel to Boston United on Saturday 11 July (3pm KO).

Cohen says he's excited to see supporters back in the stands when the Imps travel to Boston United for their opening pre-season fixture on Saturday, before heading to Spain for a week-long training camp.

He also talked about how preparations have gone in the build-up to the game after the conclusion of the second full week of pre-season training.

He said: “The lads’ application over both weeks has been what we’d expect but we certainly don’t take it for granted that they’re right at it from day one.

“It’ll be lovely to see the fans again most importantly, I think the players enjoy the training but it’s what we all do it for.

“We can’t wait to get out there and can’t wait to go up against a really good team with an experienced manager and start implementing some of the stuff we’ve been working on over the first two weeks.”

With the first friendly marking the next step in City's preparations, Cohen says attention is already beginning to turn towards the start of the competitive campaign, which begins with a Carabao Cup tie against Derby County before the Sky Bet Championship opener against Middlesbrough.

He said: “As soon as the games start, we are on our way to the first game against Derby, that’s in the our minds at all points.

“Obviously we have lots of physical bits with players playing certain amounts of minutes but in the main we’re looking for good performances throughout pre-season.”
