Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw were unveiled to the press after becoming head coaches of Lincoln City.

The pair played an instrumental role in City’s Sky Bet League One title success last term and were both promoted to their new roles following the departure of Michael Skubala last month.

Both Cohen and Shaw spoke of their pride and excitement after stepping into the role.

Cohen said: “When the opportunity came we both couldn’t wait to get started. It already feels very normal, we’ve had an unbelievable journey together as coaches.

“The club has been incredible for both of us, me for three years and Tom for nine and the success we had together as a football club was amazing.

“Now we are both looking to help progress the club together as best as we possibly can.”

Shaw added: “Me and Chris have worked side by side for a period of time and our way of working has already helped bring success to this football club.

“We know what each other looks for in a team, in a player and a training session, so when the conversation began about the role and doing it together, it was incredibly exciting.

“We trust each other a lot in our decision making. So the overall feeling was one of excitement and pride, because this is a phenomenal football club that means a lot to us both. We’re grateful and ready for the challenge ahead.”

Both Cohen and Shaw added that their new roles will be a continuation of what delivered so much success to the Imps last season.

Cohen explained: “People on the outside may look at it and think it isn’t ‘normal’ to have two head coaches, but for us it feels completely normal.

“We’d both like to place on record our thanks to Michael for the opportunity he gave us last season and the freedom we were given within our roles to go and produce a product that took the club to a place it hasn’t been for the last 65 years.

“For us, we will just continue to do what we did last year, with the extra responsibility and I’m sure we’ll be able to deliver that as well as we have with everything else.”

Shaw added: “There are various bits that will do extra now and we will look to share that our accordingly.

“The football side will be very similar, if not the same. We’ll be going into a higher division, which will, of course, be tough.

“We’ll be looking to grow and evolve what we’re already doing and sharpening our tools as coaches.

“Things will feel very similar in the players, we’ve built up a fantastic rapport with them and, as long as they know that we will continue to have their best interests at heart, that will be really healthy moving forwards.

“The football provisions and the way that it is delivered, will be very similar.”
