City have triggered a clause early to extend Adam Reach’s contract at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season, plus a further appearance-linked trigger for another 12 months.

The left-back has impressed since joining the Imps earlier in the season, clocking up 23 appearances and four goals - including a stunning strike against Barnsley which was voted the EFL’s Goal of the Month for December.

Sporting director Jez George said: “I do not have to say anything about Adam as his performances this season speak for themselves. His influence off the pitch, the standards he sets daily and his quiet leadership has been equally important.

“Adam is a class act in every respect and we are delighted that he is committed to another 18 months with a mechanism to extend that still further.”

Reach said: "When I joined in the summer I always wanted it to be a longer-term thing and it was just about getting into the team and proving I was someone who was worth keeping around.

"I've settled in so well and that is credit to everyone at the club. Ultimately, you play your best football when you feel at home and that is exactly how I feel."
