Sam Tillen is hoping his side can learn after a first defeat since the opening day.
The young Imps created plenty of chances throughout the game but came away with a 1-0 defeat at Chesterfield in the Youth Alliance Cup.
Tillen said: “We dominated the game in terms of possession, chances and we were ultimately undone with one lapse of concentration which has been very costly.
“We need to start converting these chances that we’re creating because it’s costing us points. It’s just continual work, we’ll have a look at the video and show the players what they can do better with the decisions in the final actions in the hope they ultimately learn from that.”
City have three games left in the group stage of the Youth Alliance Cup, and Tillen is still aiming for progression in the competition with the next game not too far away.
He added: “We’ll probably have to win our remaining games to go through when you look at the group. We certainly have the ability to do that but we’ll have to iron out the recurring themes in the final third.”
