Sam Tillen was delighted with his players as they ran out 1-0 winners against Carlisle United.
Will Cowin’s early goal gave the young Imps an early lead as they gained another three points in the Youth Alliance League against a direct Carlisle side.
Tillen said: “I was delighted with the performance from a very inexperienced line-up. In the first half in particular we executed our game plan extremely effectively, we pressed and counter-pressed well, sustaining pressure and creating some great opportunities in transition."
Tillen highlighted the performance of first year scholar Dan Vanderpuye, and went on to praise his young group of players after a convincing performance.
He continued: “Dan had a fantastic goal retrospectively wrongly chalked off - one he certainly deserved for the way he led the line.
“It was a great trip for the boys. I was pleased that we gained a very assured three points whilst playing six shadow scholars, three U16s and led by a spine of scholars in Denny Oliver, Charlie Carlisle, Isaac Allan and Dan.”
