Charlie Carlisle was happy to get 60 minutes under his belt as the Imps drew 2-2 against Lincoln United to start their pre-season campaign.

The defender reflected on Friday's game and the experience of playing against a senior side which he believes will be beneficial heading into the new campaign.

Carlisle said: “I think it’s so important to get experience against a men’s side, it's completely different to the kind of game we play and it’s great to understand the football that goes on here.

“We lost a lot of big characters last year so as a second-year scholar it’s important to bring people out of their shells and try and help lift people and bring them up to the best level."

Carlisle is looking forwarding to the upcoming season and he's aiming to make the most of opportunities that come his way.

He added: "I want to be the best I can whenever I step onto the pitch. My aim is to get as many opportunities in the first team as I can and make the most of them."
