The Imps extended their unbeaten run to nine games in all competitions with a 1-0 away win at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Sonny Bradley's first half header secured all three points for Michael Skubala's side.

There was an early chance for the Imps to take the lead, as Tendayi Darikwa down the right flank before picking out Ben House, who forced Kamil Dudek into a save.

It was in the 16th minute when the Brewers had their first opportunity. Tyrese Shade advanced into the area before taking aim from a wide angle, forcing George Wickens into action. The ball broke for Charlie Webster, but he couldn't get it under contorl, allowing City to clear.

On 22 minutes, the Imps went ahead through birthday boy Bradley, meeting Tom Bayliss' inswinging delivery from the left side to head home his third goal in successive starts.

The Brewers looked for an immediate way back into it, but saw their efforts thwarted.

They had an opportunity in the 32nd minute when Shade was inches away from an equaliser for the hosts but, thankfully for the Imps, his curling effort went just wide of the right post.

They continued to press and on 40 minutes Sebastian Revan saw a cross from the left flank held by Wickens.

Then, just before half-time, Jake Beesley held the ball up into the path of Webster, who set his sights from distance. His effort looked goalbound, before a deflection took it wide.

A goalmouth scramble ensued from the resulting corner, with the hosts asking for a penalty for handball. Nothing was given by the referee, who awarded City a free kick.

At the start of the second period, Revan rode a couple of challenges to advance into the area before seeing his effort blocked by the face of Conor McGrandles. It was committed defending from the midfielder, to deny the hosts a leveller.

At the other end, in the 56th minute, there was almost an Imps second as a great move saw Reeco Hackett release House down the right flank, but his cross was just too high for James Collins to convert.

Just after an hour, good play from Frankie Okoronkwo down the left got him into a dangerous position before clipping it in for Collins, who was prevented from getting onto it by Alex Hartridge.

Then, shortly after, Hackett released an effort from range that went just wide of Dudek's left post for City.

In the 82nd minute, following a quadruple change for the Imps, great work from House won the ball back high up the pitch. Substitute Freddie Draper then picked it up and smashed an effort against the post.

As the game drew towards the closing stages, Burton started to apply more pressure, with Hartridge lashing over the bar.

Then, Jack Armer's low cross found Webster at the far post, but he could only fire over from a good position.

On 89 minutes, City substitute Justin Obikwu won a corner for City which was delivered by Adam Reach onto the head of Bradley, but his effort was off target.

There were six minutes of added time, and the hosts pushed for a late leveller. Obikwu broke for the Imps late on but his effort was saved by Dudek. In the end, City stayed resolute and secured all three points.
