Freddie Draper's second goal in as many games earned the Imps an impressive victory at Bristol City.
Draper struck early in the second period and, just as at Preston North End on Saturday, it was the decisive moment in the fixture.
It was a third straight 1-0 away win in the league for the Imps, and a fifth match without defeat to build on a solid start to the campaign.
City made five changes to the starting XI. Chieo Ogbene was given his first league start for the Imps, with Draper also coming into the line-up after scoring the winning goal at Preston North End off the bench on Saturday.
Ryley Towler, Dom Jefferies and Ivan Varfolomeev also started, as head coaches Chris Cohen and Tom Shaw freshened up the team in the midst of a demanding run of fixtures.
The Imps were the first side to get a shot away, with Freddie Draper's effort blocked by Sam Tickle in the fourth minute. Rob Dickie was on hand to clear the ball.
Moments later, as the visitors recycled the ball from the resulting throw-on, Jefferies got a low shot from distance which was blocked and just would not fall for a visiting player in the area.
The home side, with aspirations of a play-off place after a good start to the season, enjoyed some good possession with Japanese Yu Hirakawa particularly catching the eye.
He was at the centre of a lot of the Robins' first-half action, with a shot from outside the area - though it was straight at George Wickens - and a lofted effort which threatened to dip under the bar and needed punching over by City's No.1.
The resulting corner, sent in by Rio Cardines, saw the dangerous Lorent Tolaj head over. Gibson Yah also headed over for the Robins, and Tolaj flashed a shot wide at the near post as the Imps had to defend resolutely.
The Imps held their nerve and looked dangerous in flashes themselves, most notably when Ogbene flashed a header wide after getting on the end of a Jefferies cross from the right.
City started the second half brightly and created a number of early chances, with Deji Elerewe heading wide from an early corner.
Ogbene also got a shot away after cutting in from the left, though his effort was straight down the throat of Tickle.
It was no surprise when the Imps went ahead of 53 minutes. Ogbene's pressing of Dickie created an opportunity, as his pass back to Tickle was intercepted by House who flicked the ball into the path of Draper. The striker fired home his second goal in as many games with a smart left-footed finish.
The Imps had their tails up, with Ogbene having a shot from the edge of the area blocked and Draper firing over from distance.
Robins manager Michael Skubala threw on Dom Ballard, last season's top goalscorer in League One, on the hour mark as the home side looked to find a way back into the game.
Wickens was forced into a save with his legs moment later, as Hirakawa broke through having been played through by the incoming Ballard.
The visitors made changes of their own as the second half continued, with Reeco Hackett, Rob Street and Dan Oyegoke entering play.
They threatened a second goal after 80 minutes when a well-worked corner routine led to Oyegoke having a shot from outside the area. Although it took a deflection, it bounced agonisingly away from several Imps players into the area and safely into the hands of home keeper Tickle.
The home side, as you would expect, had most of the ball in the final stages as they sought a way back into the game. Lisav Eissat headed over from a dangerous cross, and Ballard sent a shot wide deep in time added on.
