Michael Skubala felt the way his side started the game set the tone once more following his side's 5-0 home victory over Bristol Rovers.
Skipper Paudie O'Connor headed his side ahead before on-loan striker Joe Taylor added two more to give the Imps an early three goal lead.
Taylor secured his hat-trick in the second period, while Reeco Hackett sealed the success with a fifth, as City earned an eighth victory from ten and made it 13 games unbeaten.
Skubala said: "We started well again. We talked about starting bright and fast, and we were on the front foot. They're a really good team with the ball and it was a different game to Cambridge for me.
"I felt for the last 15-20 minutes of the first half we had to weather it a bit. We sorted a few things out tactically at half-time and then I felt we came out good again for the second half.
"Scoring five goals was fantastic though. I just like people being in the right places and scoring goals. Joe is improving all the time, that's why he came here and you can see he's a real threat to anybody."
"Lukas Jensen made some big saves in the first half when the game became open, and Paudie O'Connor won some big headers as well. Those two were fantastic."
There is now a 13-day break from action for the Imps, with Leyton Orient at the LNER Stadium next on the agenda on Friday 29 March (3pm KO).
Skubala is hoping for another large home crowd, after over 9,300 attended the Bristol Rovers fixture.
He added: "It's brilliant we can have the Stacey West Stand nearly full as well. The fans were electric. This was a big moment again to enjoy, but we have to recover, repair and go again for a really tough next game against Leyton Orient."
