Michael Skubala has enjoyed watching the improvements his side have made during his tenure as the Imps made it nine unbeaten in midweek against Shrewsbury Town.
City played some exhilarating football on the way to a 3-0 victory, but Skubala is wary of the task awaiting them on Saturday as they welcome play-off chasing Stevenage to the LNER Stadium.
Skubala said: “There’s been loads of improvements. The lads’ mentality has been fantastic, the group’s got stronger with the ball. We’ve been defending really well, and the style of play has changed since the first game I came in.
“They understand a little bit more how I want them to play, and how we want to go about things as a group. I don’t think the progression ever ends, we’re always looking to improve, and the players are doing that and are on board with that.
“The squad depth has also gotten stronger, so the group looks and feels very different which is nice and good. There’s been loads of positives, but we know we’ve got a really tough game coming up against Stevenage.”
City’s head coach also praised the supporters for their backing against Salop and knows there will be another electric atmosphere to welcome his side onto the pitch against Stevenage.
He added: “The fans have been great since I’ve come in to be honest, I’ve never felt that there hasn’t been a buzz around the LNER Stadium.
“I think they’ve been fantastic and I love the lads celebrating with the fans because I love that connection between them. I think that’s something really special that you can miss sometimes at higher levels.”
