The Imps extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches after a hard-fought goalless draw against Stevenage.
The first chance of the game went the way of Stevenage from a 20-yard free-kick which was taken by Jake Forster-Caskey whose low strike failed to find a way beneath the wall.
In what was a first half of few chances, the Imps almost found a way through in the 14th minute as Joe Taylor’s shot inside the area was blocked, leaving Reeco Hackett to race onto the loose ball and sweep his effort narrowly wide of the left post.
Lukas Jensen was then forced into action in the 39th minute as Paudie O’Connor’s header back fell short, leaving Jamie Reid to sneak in and try to flick the ball past the goalie who stood tall to keep the score level.
City kept battling away and created a nice opening for themselves two minutes later. Jack Moylan’s ball out to Hackett on the left was followed by a delivery in for Taylor who could only fire over while on the turn.
Jack Moylan looked to spark the second half into life as he found space outside the area to fire at goal, although Piergianni was well placed to deflect the effort just wide of the left post.
Piergianni was then involved at the other end of the pitch in the 70th minute as he rose highest to glance Dan Butler’s inswinging free-kick just past the far post.
Chances in the second half were at a premium as both sides looked to find a real foothold, although Freddie Draper did cause issues when he came on and almost flicked City ahead from Hackett’s free-kick if it wasn’t for some strong Stevenage defending.
The Imps kept fighting in search of a late winner and it almost came after a neat move finished with Bishop shooting on the angle, although Louis Thompson was there to block the shot - leaving both sides to settle for a point.
